Never Release Ants Into the Wild
Not natives. Not anything. Ever.
Released colonies are how invasive species establish themselves, and ants are among the most destructive invaders on earth. A colony let go in the wrong place can displace native insects, wreck local ecosystems and cause damage no one can undo.
If you ever need to end a colony, the accepted humane method in the hobby is freezing. Never opening a lid outside. This is the one rule with no exceptions.
Know the Law
Moving live ants across state lines is federally regulated in the United States, and some species are restricted in some states. This is not red tape for its own sake, it is the same invasive species problem written into law.
We only ship what is legal to where it is going. If you are ever offered queens by a seller who does not mention permits at all, that is a signal worth paying attention to.
Ask Before You Panic
Most emergencies are not emergencies. A queen who has not laid yet. A little mould. Brood that seems stalled. Workers that look wrong. Nine times out of ten the answer is that it is normal and the correct action is to leave her alone.
The tenth time, catching it early matters. Either way, message us before you intervene. We would much rather answer a question than replace a queen.
