Shipping Information

SHIPPING

Living animals, packed for the journey.

How We Pack

Queens and colonies are secured in transport containers with the moisture and ventilation appropriate to the species, then cushioned and insulated for transit. When conditions call for it, we include heat or cold packs to buffer temperature swings along the way.

Processing & Dispatch

Orders are prepared and conditioned before they ship. Where possible we send live orders early in the week, so packages aren't sitting in a facility over a weekend.

Weather Holds

Extreme heat and cold are the greatest risks to a live shipment. We may briefly hold your order to wait out a dangerous forecast on either end of the trip. If we do, we'll always let you know — it's only ever to protect your animals.

Receiving Your Order

Please have someone available to bring the package indoors promptly — live animals shouldn't sit in a hot or freezing mailbox. The moment it arrives, follow the steps in our Live Arrival Guarantee to document the unboxing.

Where We Can Ship

Ant-keeping and the movement of live insects are regulated, and the rules vary by state and country. For that reason we may be unable to ship certain species to certain destinations. It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that keeping a given species is legal where they live. If you have any doubt about your location, contact us before ordering and we'll help where we can.
